The 100 mile course takes on the full length of St Oswald’s Way, plus a little extra to finish at Chollerford. This course has it all, showing you some of the best that Northumberland has to offer.

With mile after mile of sandy beaches, with ancient castles as their backdrop, the route takes in the best of the borderlands as you head inland through pretty valleys and over wild, rugged hills.

Parking at the Finish

If you pre-booked the coach pickup for transport from the finish at Chollerford to Holy Island on the morning of the race, meet the coach at The George Hotel, Chollerford, NE46 4EW. The coach will depart at 5.00am prompt. Please use the parking at the rear of the hotel and keep the parking at the front of the hotel reception clear for hotel guests and also for yourselves as this is the finish line!

 

Getting to the Start

If you are making your own way to the start, please use the Holy Island Visitors Car Park – please do not park in the village. You have to pay for parking. Post Code TD15 2SE will get you to the island.

 

Registration

Registration will take place in The Crossman Hall TD15 2RX between 6.00am and 7.45am. At registration we will issue you with your race number (with tear-off bag tag), a waterproof race map and your GPS Tracker which we must tape to the top shoulder strap of your running pack, so make sure you have your pack with you when registering. The tracker is to remain on until you have completed the race.

 

Drop Bags

You can leave a drop bag to be transported to the finish at Craster. Remove the bag tag from your race number and attach to your bag. When you are ready to race, deposit your bag at the van outside Pilgrims Coffee House which is on the way to the start line.

 

Pilgrims Coffee

In previous years Pilgrims’ Coffee has hosted our registration. They will be open again, but this time as more of a chill-out zone before you start your epic run and yes their coffee is awesome!

 

Race Start

The race will start at 8.00am on Holy Island Beach, which is a 2-minute walk from registration, follow the signs. There will be a short race brief at 7.55am which everyone must attend.

 

Navigation on the course

The course does not have any additional arrows or markings other than the waymarked course of St Oswald’s Way. We will provide you with a detailed sectional OS map of the course which will show aid station locations. We highly recommend that you download the GPX file of the course onto your phone or smart device. You can also view the course and your present location by visiting the live tracking page, a link will be made available on the Pilgrims’ Ultra website. If you need help with navigation or for any other assistance you can contact Event Control at any time by calling the phone number printed on your race number.

Water stations will be provided from a vehicle. Feed stations will be indoors and will offer a selection of snacks including bananas, crisps, jelly babies, flapjacks.

Arriving at the Finish

The finish of the Pilgrims’ Ultra 10o mile race will be at The George Hotel, Chollerford immediately after you cross the bridge. The finish line will be the entrance to the hotel garden and we have use of the function room where we will provide you with hot food and, of course, your finishers medal, t shirt and we’ll reunite you with your drop bag.
